Visiting Billund, Denmark with kids
If you’re looking for a child friendly, super budget friendly city break then I can’t recommend Billund enough! It’s the home of LEGO and even in winter there’s enough to do and it’s not somewhere you need to worry about the weather as such.
We flew with Ryanair for £140 total, return, for 4 of us hand luggage only. We then walked from the airport to the town as it’s so close, there’s a free shuttle bus that runs in the summer. Such a quick & easy trip!
It’s worth going for @legohouse alone. LEGO House is somewhere we’ve wanted to visit for a while now and it blew all of our minds! It’s full of interactive hands-on exhibits for all ages.
My top tips for visiting Billund
In LEGOHOUSE we loved racing cars we’d built, creating fish that then swim in a virtual ocean and making our own mini figures. It’s very interactive where you scan your wrist bands at each camera point to make your creations come to life. There’s enough for younger ones to enjoy with the DUPLO filled swimming pools and whole duplo train tracks to build as well as for older children who can code moving robots. We spent a whole day here and went back for the rooftop play areas.
Make sure to book Mini Chef, the restaurant in Lego house, This was the coolest restaurant that we’ve ever been to with our children. You each get given a bag of LEGO to place your order with from which you build your bricks in different combinations to choose from the menu then submit it into a computer. There’s Lego to play with and books to read whilst you wait and then you get notified when your meal is ready to travel from the kitchen along to the LEGO robots who will receive your order so you can go to pick up your box from them. The only waiters you see are if you order drinks or need anything extra! We were surprised by just how good the quality of food was, it was all so delicious, healthy and organic which you wouldn’t necessarily expect from a novelty kind of place but this is Denmark and they are the kings and queens of gastronomy. The kids meals come with a bonus bag of chef Lego to take home with you. Our children are still talking about it now! You don’t need tickets for Lego house to visit but I’d definitely book a table in advance though as it’s popular.
The playgrounds are epic, don’t miss the LEGO house rooftop park which you can enter for free.
It was our first time in a Scandinavian country and I just loved the bakeries, the cinnamon social slices, the rye bread, the smoked fish, seeing children out on bikes in all weathers, I was even just swooning over the supermarket interior sections and we got amazing properly waterproof danish vintage coats from the kids from a charity shop.
The town is small and not exactly beautiful design wise. It’s cool to see the LEGO university and the nature walks are nice, it’s got two big supermarkets and enough restaurants but it’s not a big city.
We went at the end of November for a Lego promotion so not everything else attraction wise was open - unfortunately Legoland opened a couple of days for the christmas period a couple of days after we left. I’d definitely go back to visit the original @legolandbillund & other attractions like @wowparkdk in the Spring or Summer sometime.
We stayed at the @legolandbillund hotel which was perfect for kids with lots of Lego to play with everywhere, play areas and had a really decent breakfast buffet. Our children loved that even the rooms had big boxes of LEGO to play with and the hotel has daily treasure hunts where you can win prizes and they often just give out free mini bags of LEGO too. Great for a couple of nights. It’s a nice walk from here along a river with sculptures into town.
Look up @lalandia which looks like a Center Parcs type place and the aqua park there looks amazing, it’s Denmark’s biggest water park.
It’s all so geared up for play and children. The streets have slides and play trails running the whole way along, even the airport had an impressive playroom and free buggies to save tired parents.
- * we originally visited for an AD LEGOhouse Build to Give initiative but paid for most of the trip and it was not in exchange for any other content like this.

Part Two of our February Half Term trip to Marrakech, here’s everything that we got up to…
We recently got back from staying at Kenzi Club Agdal Medina in Marrakech over February half term, and it turned out to be such an incredible mix of winter sunshine, culture, relaxation, and family-friendly fun. Staying in an all-inclusive resort filled with kids’ pools, water slides, and sports facilities felt like a real oasis away from the hustle of the city, while still being only around 10 minutes from the main Medina. It gave us the best of both worlds — laid-back resort living combined with the colour, energy, and culture of Marrakech. If you’re wondering where to stay in Marrakech with kids, here’s everything you need to know about staying at Kenzi Club Agdal Medina Resort.
Last summer we spent a week of our camping trip around France on the shores of Lake Annecy. Known as Europe’s cleanest, most beautiful lake, I was really curious to see how we’d find it after spending a few summers on Lake Garda in Italy. Here’s everything we found out and enjoyed doing with our kids there…
For the final part of our roadtrip we spent some time near Tavira and Olhao, the Eastern and more traditional part of the Algarve. It’s a really interesting place completely different from the touristy parts, there are barrier islands, HUGE beaches, old fishing towns, salt flats and national parks.
The Algarve is high on everybody’s list for Portugal and we couldn’t resist seeing some of the famous beaches. But we also didn’t want to do it in a typical touristy way so here’s how we spent 3 nights of our Portuguese road trip…
Looking for a relaxed family destination in Portugal that isn’t overrun with crowds? Comporta is just over an hour from Lisbon and was the third stop on our Portuguese road trip from Porto down to the Algarve. Here are our thoughts…

Here’s how we spent a super memorable, gorgeous Autumn day in Paris with our two children, aged 6 and 4.
We booked a French Center Parcs mostly because it was a lot cheaper - and chicer - than the UK version, and because it conveniently put Paris and Disney within easy reach. What we didn’t expect was just how incredible it would be. It felt less like a budget compromise and more like a hidden gem — somewhere between a scaled-down Kinderhotel and a surprisingly chic Soho Farmhouse, with bikes, Land of Legends adventure playgrounds, a farm and more activities than we could have ever fitted in! Here’s our full review and everything you need to know…
A complete bucket list trip to the North Pole where we searched for the real Santa, stayed in an aurora cabin, rode in a reindeer and husky driven sleigh, awed at the Northern Lights and had a lot of fun in the snow. Everything you need to know about a trip to the Northern Lights Village, Saariselka, Finland.
The chances are, if you love travel and you’ve got children, you’ll have heard about the renowned Ikos resorts. Ikos has become the name for luxury all inclusive family friendly resorts in Europe, starting in Greece {the group are sister to the equally well known Sani group} 10 years ago and now expanding across to Spain & the Balearics too.
But what is that makes an Ikos resort truly great? Here is everything you need to know about Ikos Porto Petro, Mallorca {we also stayed at Oceania in Halkidiki Greece last year so I’ll share a few notes on that too}
*ad we were hosted as a press stay but paid for the rest of our trip and all opinions are my own…
After the Ile de Re, our next stop on our French roadtrip this summer was the Dordogne! I actually didn’t know anything about this region, we booked it solely for @leparadisdordogne campsite which had been recommended as a special spot and it broke up our journey to Annecy. It ended up being better than we ever could have hoped for! This region is stunning, I’d say it feels like the Cotswolds of France in the countryside with charming stone villages, the river to kayak on and lots of chateaus. Here’s a mini guide;
Ahh the Ile de Re. My husband and I first discovered this little piece of paradise on the west coast of France back in 2015 and have been back 4 times since! Dubbed the French Hamptons, an island attached by a bridge near La Rochelle, it’s where lots of Parisians have holiday homes. You’ll find miles and miles of car free cycle routes through vineyards, the prettiest shuttered towns in hues of green & blue {there are a set number of paint colours that habitants are required to use}, pine backed sandy beaches, oyster farms, daily markets and salt farms. It’s bigger than you expect! This was our second trip there with children, fifth in total and here’s a mini guide if you’re looking to go;
If you ever find yourself in Hvar, {we were staying at this really great value, super family friendly beautiful green resort - see my full review here} then you have to visit Hvar old town and the Pakleni islands just across the water are unmissable if you want to see some of the clearest, most beautiful water in Europe. Here’s a mini guide of everything we did to take a water taxi for just 10 euros return compared to spending hundreds on skippering a boat…
If you’re looking for a dream family resort that has villas instead of rooms, childcare and halfboard included, a beautiful old town within walking distance that’s actually good value even in the school holidays then look no further! We discovered such a gem with the Valamar Amicor Green resort on Hvar island in Croatia. Let me tell you all about our stay from May half term….
Come and see why we absolutely loved Valamar Tirena resort in Dubrovnik’s Lapad peninsula.
This resort is designed with families in mind—it makes traveling with kids feel effortless. Set just 10 minutes from Dubrovnik’s Old Town, with a bus that stops right outside the hotel, it’s the perfect base for a city break, with plenty to keep everyone entertained. One of the biggest highlights? Maro World—an amazing kids’ paradise exclusive to Valamar guests.
Last summer we went to the mountains for the first time and were completely blown away by what an incredible family holiday it makes. It helped that we were staying at Naturhotel Forsthofgut, an incredible ~ make that beyond incredible, family friendly boutique luxury spa hotel surrounded by the Austrian mountains. But when I say family friendly, I mean the Kinder version of family friendly. A whole level up. I honestly think it will be hard to ever beat. Let me tell you some of the things that we loved about it and all of the details you’d probably like to know…
There are resorts and then there are resorts! @hillsidebeachclub {ad review stay} has one of the highest rates of returning guests and the most satisfied guests for any resort in the world, Harvard University even did a study on it. I’m on a mission to share the ins & outs of the best family resorts, the stuff that you can’t really find out when you’re researching trips unless you know somebody that’s been there to quiz! So here is everything you need to know if you’re planning a trip there or wondering where to go this summer;
We’ve been to Lake Garda almost every year since my daughter was born nearly 6 years ago. It just makes for such a perfect family holiday destination and is also one of the best value places even in the school holidays {there always seem to be cheap flights to Milan!}. Here are some places not to miss if you’re planning a trip…
A full review of our stay at Camping Serenella near Bardolino on the shores of Lake Garda, Italy. It was such a family friendly European campsite that we’d definitely not rule out going back to.
A Daytrip to the Ile de Porquerolles {and one of Europe’s best beaches Plage de Notre Dame} from Le Lavandou in the South of France.
I first discovered Le Lavandou from a very kind follower who shared it with us as a place we’d probably love to visit and she certainly wasn’t wrong. It’s a bit of a cheaper way to visit the south of France away from the glitz of St Tropez and the likes but with so many incredible beaches within easy reach. It ticked pretty much all of our holiday boxes!
A little trip recap of a delayed babymoon in the most beautiful AirBnB - thanks covid - that ended up being our first trip as a family of 4! We love Soller and had been there before as a couple pre kids. It’s such a gorgeous part of Mallorca, the orange grove surrounded town is beautiful, you can walk to the beach or jump on the tram and it reminds us of Palm Springs with all the mountains and palms everywhere you look.
Last May half term, we had the most beautiful week staying in Mazzaro, the beach just below Taormina in Sicily. Whilst it absolutely wins on scenery and had been on my list to visit for years after we fell in love with the Amalfi Coast {of which it feels quite similar}, I wouldn’t say that Sicily is the most child friendly place we’ve ever been to. It’s very much old school charm. We knew that before we booked! But here are some things that our children {aged 4 & 2 at the time} really enjoyed and some top tips if you’re planning to visit…
We first discovered the beauty of a holiday in the mountains last summer and quickly got converted. The breathtaking beauty takes some beating. We also discovered the concept of kinder hotels for the first time - a hotel designed specifically around children and families. They’re honestly a kid paradise - and therefore every parent’s paradise! Happy kiddos, easy parenting, luxury hotel. Win win.
The hotels are amazing in all seasons, they offer so much inside and out whatever the weather but we were particularly excited to visit in the winter and had been dreaming of a snowy trip! Feuerstein Nature Resort blew us away & we had the most incredible long weekend. Here’s alllll you need to know.
We were invited to the House of Lego, Legohouse in BIllund Denmark and discovered that the small city is perfect for a city break with children. It’s all focused around play. There’s the original Legoland there too and one of the coolest restaurant’s in the world where you’re served by robots. It’s really easy to get from the airport there and flights are often really cheap.
We booked Disneyland Paris quite last minute when we had 2 nights spare at the end of our European road trip. We convinced my parents to fly out to join us & surprise the kids and it made for the most magical, fun couple of days we’ll remember forever!!
