Kenzi Agdal Medina Resort, Marrakech
Over February half term we went to Marrakech! My husband and I went as one of our first trips together back in 2010 and then later for a special birthday, child free, long weekend a couple of years back. But we’d never been with children and were very excited to see them experience the magic of somewhere really unique!
Just over three hours from London, we escaped a very wet February and couldn’t believe the incredible bright blue skies, palm trees, tropical flowers and tweeting birds we were waking up to every morning. Granted, the mornings and evenings are chilly {take coats!} but the daytime temperatures quickly rose and we were in swimwear by the pool everyday! It was typically around 24c, perfect with kids but our last day was 29c. Incredible for mid February. This is part one about where to stay & a full review of the Agdal Kenzi Club Medina resort. In part two I’ll share everything we did, a hot air balloon, souk shopping, rooftop bars, a camel ride and desert trip!
Where to Stay & Package Benefits
We travelled with easyJet holidays (AD — not for this blog post, but marking for transparency. All opinions are 100% my own) and stayed for seven nights.
Booking as a package worked out to be excellent value. Flights and the hotel separately would have cost significantly more. I also love that the website shows the exact total price upfront.
Our package included:
Private transfers (we simply found the easyJet desk outside arrivals and were whisked straight to our car)
The 5* All Inclusive resort
23kg baggage allowance each plus a small handbag onboard
ATOL protection
You can use my discount code for an extra £60 off. Save £60 on your next @easyJetholidays with the code REBECCA60. Valid on holidays 04/03/26 to 31/10/27 that are booked before the 25th March 2026, minimum spend £700.

We also took our YoYo buggy onboard, which made airport navigation with tired children so much easier. In fact, that was the theme of this trip: easy (no pun intended).
The Resort: Kenzi Club Agdal Medina
The resort is an all-inclusive, family-friendly hotel located around 15 minutes from the airport and 10 minutes from the Medina (the old walled city). We chose it because of the facilities it offered and how great it was for staying with children and it was even better than we’d imagined.
Resort vs Riad?
In Marrakech you essentially have three main accommodation options:
1. All-inclusive resorts
Large properties on the outskirts with multiple pools, sports facilities, spas and entertainment — ideal for families wanting space and relaxation.
2. Riads
Traditional Moroccan guesthouses tucked away down side streets in the Medina. Unassuming from the outside, but inside they’re intricate, peaceful oases with courtyard pools and rooftop terraces. We stayed in one on our first trip (pre-kids) and it was such an immersive experience.
3. Self-catering apartments / AirBnbs
We’ve now done both riads and resorts, and I’d say a riad is a must-do experience — even just for a couple of nights. Some are child-friendly (for example El Fenn), but personally I think they’re better suited to shorter stays with kids.
For family travel, a resort gives you the best of both worlds: proper holiday relaxation and space, while still being a short drive from the energy and magic of the Medina.
Our Family Suite
We stayed in a family suite which sleeps up to 5. It was incredibly spacious with two bedroom areas, two balconies, two bathrooms, plenty of wardrobe space and the main room also had a sofa bed option. There’s also standard rooms which can accommodate families of 4 in two beds.
One thing to note: the beds are quite high. We ended up putting the kids’ mattresses on the floor to stop them rolling off — which they absolutely loved as it created a cosy little play space.
All rooms are arranged around courtyard-style riad blocks, surrounded by palms and birds of paradise. Ours was up one flight of stairs (there are no lifts), so if you’re travelling with a buggy I’d recommend requesting a ground floor room when booking. Also, take conditioner!
For travel with kids, and even on our last trip there child free, staying in a resort offers the best of both. You get that proper holiday relaxation and space whilst only being a short drive away from the real Marrakech.
The Food
You never quite know what the quality is like at all inclusive resorts until you visit but we were impressed with the food at Kenzi Club Agdal Medina. There’s one main buffet restaurant called Atlas which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The dinner theme changed every evening from French to Italian to seafood to Moroccan for variety but the main staples stayed the same.
Breakfast had a huge spread including freshly made pancakes, an omelette and egg chef, freshly made Moroccan flat breads {called Msmen which we got addicted to} and Moroccan pancakes, hot lentils, bean stew, delicious roasted vegetables, shakshuka, fruit, fresh donuts, french toast, crudités, olives, cheese & cold meats, sausages, occasional bacon & pork - it’s a Muslim country remember, local Merguez sausages, amazing French viennoiserie pastries, a huge selection of bread, jams, yogurts, dried fruit and the freshest orange juice Marrakech is famous for.
Lunch and dinner always had a pasta station with a chef, really great pizzas cooked in a wood fired oven, chips, different selection of meat each day, huge selections of salads, both pre made and dressed concoctions as well as healthy raw and cooked crudités, grilled fish most days, always a whole couscous and tagine section, ratatouille, plain pasta, sometimes burgers, sometimes a shawarma station, sometimes nuggets, bread, cheese, olives, fruit, a dessert station and ice cream.
Soft drinks, tea coffee and wine were included at meals and then there’s the main pool bar for cocktails all day long, an evening main bar with bar snacks, canapes and drinks plus an exclusive quieter Blue bar with a roaring fire. Our kids quickly got the hang of ordering a virgin mojito or mango juice every day.
All inclusive buffets do naturally have a slight canteen style about them. The outdoor dining area was lovely but we ended up eating in most of the time for ease of being close to the food whilst keeping an eye on the kids.
Whilst the quality was always high, the availability of certain foods did go up and down a bit and at times it was really busy, sometimes a short wait for some food but then at other times it was really quiet without rhyme nor reason. The staff all worked super hard & were really responsive if you asked but do be prepared to fetch and serve yourself for a lot of the drinks or to ask for extra cutlery or glasses etc. if I’m being critical I’d have liked some more berries {long term readers know I kind of rank hotels on berries haha, there were strawberries here some days} or pomegranates or watermelon, given they’re all grown locally! But we were glad that there was a huge mix of healthy options.
We liked that whilst the meal timings were long, 630am-10 for breakfast, 1230-3 for lunch, 7pm- 10 for dinner there were also poolside snacks available almost all day long which was great for picking up a few bits for hungry kiddos outside of mealtimes. You’d find a lighter late breakfast offering, chips/baguettes/salad/fruit over lunch and then the kids ultimate favourite: gouter at 4pm with cookies, pancakes, fruit and biscuits.
There were 2 a la carte restaurants, a Moroccan and an Italian both on site that were included. You had to prebook them at reception. Drinks were not included in those. We didn’t actually end up trying them as the menus looked a little limited compared to the amazing options at the buffet which we never got bored of but nice to have the option I guess.
Pools
There were 5 pools:
A main heated pool by the bar where any of the animation, aqua aerobics, dance competitions etc took place. Our kids couldn’t stand up in here so take floats if you have little ones.
A quiet riad style pool, unheated but a dreamy spot. I only ended up here a couple of times as although children are allowed, there’s no way they’d be quiet enough and it was chilly.
A huge main pool, unheated. With some big slides in one part.
And an indoor spa pool which is mostly adults only but they open up to children for a couple of hours each day if the outdoor temperatures are chilly.
A children’s pool with a smaller side which my children could stand up in. We ended up spending most of our afternoons here as it was such a perfect spot for them swimming wise and the cabanas were always quiet here with plenty of shade.
We found that there was always a sun lounger available, although there were signs saying no reserving most of the beds next to the main pool seemed to get reserved very quickly each morning. They were all fully padded {I definitely rate resorts on how plush their loungers are, this passed the test!} and lots of gorgeous cabanas scattered around. There’s no towel card or payment system here for towels but you do need to collect your allocation of towels each day and then go to swap them for a replacement when you need.
Activities
We were beyond impressed with the sports facilities.
Everything was bookable from the main sports hut next to the main big pool {just in front of the basketball court}. There were multiple tennis courts, two padel courts, table tennis tables, brand new 3G football pitches, boule, volleyball and they were also in the middle of building some new sports courts. Some courts did get booked up fast whilst we were there, you could book one day in advance but we still managed to play tennis a few times and loved the padel courts! There was some confusion over pricing for the padel depending on who you asked but they seemed to be free for the morning slots then chargeable per hour for the afternoons. You could also book tuition.
There was both a well equipped indoor and outdoor gym. And a very impressive schedule of entertainment and activities for all ages. Archery, shooting practice, football tournaments, golf practice.
Every evening there were mini discos, evening shows and entertainment, sometimes movie nights for kids. We liked that you could just do as much or as little as you liked. We’re not huge on hotel animation so skipped the lunchtime quizzes or belly dancing for the quieter pools but equally it was fun that there was always something going on. We also didn’t end up at any of the evening entertainment as our kids were shattered by the end of the packed days!
I actually can’t get over the kids club. Our children don’t always love kids clubs, they are real Velcro kids but my daughter was genuinely crying that she didn’t want to leave by the end of the trip because she loved the staff there so much!
There was a mini club for those aged 3-6, a junior club for 7-10, Explorers from 11-13 with all different kinds of fitness and challenges then a teens challengers from 14-17 with things like water polo, basketball tournaments, escape games, padel tournaments. It was a bit confusing as to the groupings as the mini club was 3-7 then maxi 8-12 but the signs on the outside had them grouped as listed above. But regardless, there was childcare available with a really great, enthusiastic animation team!
The activities varied everyday, sometimes they stayed in the club to play games, craft and bounce on the trampoline. One day they were climbing on the ropes outside, another was a football tournament, there was a pirates day with a treasure hunt, an Olympic style activity morning, mini golf, a party day with a bouncy castle and circus style games. The staff were beyond lovely and you could pop in whenever you wanted to see how they were - they also had your number in case. We’d often just do a workout during that time and would sometimes walk laps of the resort for exercise which was sweet to be able to see them having fun outside! One day we went to see if the kids wanted to come back to the room with us early but they were so happy they wanted to stay until 12 - unheard of for our children!
The sessions ran from 930-12 then 2.30-5 and you could just turn up, no need to prebook. Some children stayed for lunch with them if you arrange it in advance and they’ll take them to the buffet. Our kids went a couple of times for either a morning or afternoon depending on what activity they fancied and they made some lovely friends too. Raffy was inseparable from a Belgium boy for a few days. They couldn’t speak each other’s language but still had so much fun. I love seeing them make holiday friends.
You’ll also find a baby club which is for an extra charge. I think it was €30 a session.
It was hard to drag ourselves away from the resort, I loved the lush planting everywhere, the olive trees, cactus and palms. But equally there was so much excitement and adventure to be had in Marrakech! We loved being able to pop into the main city for just a couple of hours, we tended to go straight after breakfast or late afternoon. There’s a free hotel shuttle bus which goes to the medina, you need to book in advance at reception. We used it one day but ended up getting taxis the rest of the time, there are always taxis waiting right outside. It’s around £5 each way. Or you can use the In Drive app - although technically illegal, kind of like Uber was before its official licence, you suggest a price on it and see if you connect with a driver; it was convenient for us for the couple of times we used it!
The main things I’d say to note about the resort are that you’re directly under the flight path. We stopped noticing the plane noise after the first day or so and personally enjoy spotting all the different aircraft taking off. And to start with we could hear the call to prayer, obviously that’s true of anywhere in Morocco, which woke us up around 5.30am for the first couple of days but I think that’s just where our room was located as nobody else we met had heard it! And then just a few queues for some food at times but I’m not sure if that’s just for half term.
Overall it was a great value resort where the staff were all absolutely incredible. We’d definitely go back! I think we have to given how sad our children were to leave.
In part two I’ll share everything we did beyond the resort.
As ever, it’s so hard to make a decision on where to book, especially when you’re travelling with kids so do let me know if you need anything more specific answering from somebody who has been!
