Travel Guides & Tips With Kids
Lake Annecy Guide
Last summer we spent a week of our camping trip around France on the shores of Lake Annecy. Known as Europe’s cleanest, most beautiful lake, I was really curious to see how we’d find it after spending a few summers on Lake Garda in Italy. Here’s everything we found out and enjoyed doing with our kids there…
Portugal Roadtrip: Tavira and the Eastern Algarve
For the final part of our roadtrip we spent some time near Tavira and Olhao, the Eastern and more traditional part of the Algarve. It’s a really interesting place completely different from the touristy parts, there are barrier islands, HUGE beaches, old fishing towns, salt flats and national parks.
Portugal Roadtrip: Lagos & The Western Algarve
The Algarve is high on everybody’s list for Portugal and we couldn’t resist seeing some of the famous beaches. But we also didn’t want to do it in a typical touristy way so here’s how we spent 3 nights of our Portuguese road trip…
Portugal Roadtrip: Comporta
Looking for a relaxed family destination in Portugal that isn’t overrun with crowds? Comporta is just over an hour from Lisbon and was the third stop on our Portuguese road trip from Porto down to the Algarve. Here are our thoughts…
Portugal Roadtrip: Lisbon and Cascais
Part 2 of our Portuguese road trip: Lisbon and Cascais.

Daytrip to Paris from Disneyland
Here’s how we spent a super memorable, gorgeous Autumn day in Paris with our two children, aged 6 and 4.
French Center Parcs: The Perfect Family Holiday Near Paris & Disney
We booked a French Center Parcs mostly because it was a lot cheaper - and chicer - than the UK version, and because it conveniently put Paris and Disney within easy reach. What we didn’t expect was just how incredible it would be. It felt less like a budget compromise and more like a hidden gem — somewhere between a scaled-down Kinderhotel and a surprisingly chic Soho Farmhouse, with bikes, Land of Legends adventure playgrounds, a farm and more activities than we could have ever fitted in! Here’s our full review and everything you need to know…
Florida without the Theme Parks, the best Beaches…
We spent Christmas in Florida and it was just such a dream. The houses are fully decorated, Americans go ALL out, it’s warm and sunny. I used to holiday there as a child so it was fun to revisit all of my favourite spots with my own children. Here’s a look at our favourite beaches, towns and children’s museums. There’s so much more to Florida than Disney but these would make for a great second week if you are there doing the theme parks.
Things to Do in Kissimmee, Florida with Kids
The first of our Florida trip blog posts, we visited over Christmas and it was the best decision ever. Here is part 1 where we stayed in Kissimmee for an airboat ride, cycled around the dream town called Celebration that Walt Disney built and visited an ICE sculpture. It makes for a great base for exploring Central Florida and has so much to do for all ages.
Staying at the Northern Lights Village, Saariselka/Lapland, Finland
A complete bucket list trip to the North Pole where we searched for the real Santa, stayed in an aurora cabin, rode in a reindeer and husky driven sleigh, awed at the Northern Lights and had a lot of fun in the snow. Everything you need to know about a trip to the Northern Lights Village, Saariselka, Finland.
The Westin London City, a central location, kids scooters and a treasure hunt
I always get asked where to stay in London for families that come to visit for a few days and I can finally recommend somewhere that we’ve personally stayed at in a really great location - and it provides scooters for kids on check in along with a treaure hunt! Here’s everything you need to know about The Westin London City…
Ikos Porto Petro, The Ultimate Family Luxury All Inclusive Resort, Mallorca
The chances are, if you love travel and you’ve got children, you’ll have heard about the renowned Ikos resorts. Ikos has become the name for luxury all inclusive family friendly resorts in Europe, starting in Greece {the group are sister to the equally well known Sani group} 10 years ago and now expanding across to Spain & the Balearics too.
But what is that makes an Ikos resort truly great? Here is everything you need to know about Ikos Porto Petro, Mallorca {we also stayed at Oceania in Halkidiki Greece last year so I’ll share a few notes on that too}
*ad we were hosted as a press stay but paid for the rest of our trip and all opinions are my own…
Camping at Le Paradis and The Dordogne
After the Ile de Re, our next stop on our French roadtrip this summer was the Dordogne! I actually didn’t know anything about this region, we booked it solely for @leparadisdordogne campsite which had been recommended as a special spot and it broke up our journey to Annecy. It ended up being better than we ever could have hoped for! This region is stunning, I’d say it feels like the Cotswolds of France in the countryside with charming stone villages, the river to kayak on and lots of chateaus. Here’s a mini guide;
A Guide to the Ile de Re, France
Ahh the Ile de Re. My husband and I first discovered this little piece of paradise on the west coast of France back in 2015 and have been back 4 times since! Dubbed the French Hamptons, an island attached by a bridge near La Rochelle, it’s where lots of Parisians have holiday homes. You’ll find miles and miles of car free cycle routes through vineyards, the prettiest shuttered towns in hues of green & blue {there are a set number of paint colours that habitants are required to use}, pine backed sandy beaches, oyster farms, daily markets and salt farms. It’s bigger than you expect! This was our second trip there with children, fifth in total and here’s a mini guide if you’re looking to go;
Family Ultra All Inclusive - Moon Palace & The Grand, Cancun, Mexico
Everything you need to know about The Grand and Moon Palace, an ultra all inclusive family resort that will blow your mind in Mexico {it was so good that we went booked and went back the exact time a year later!}.
The Grove Hotel, Hertfordshire
Come and take a look at summer at the Grove Hotel with us. Set across 300 acres in Hertfordshire, it’s known as London’s country escape. It’s pretty close to where we live so we’ve been fans and regulars for the restaurants {The Glasshouse is our absolute number one for any special occasion, it’s an exquisite buffet like no other and was even featured on the Netflix show ‘the world’s best buffets’} and Sequoia Spa, for the last 16+ years! We’ve been lucky enough to stay at some incredible places in our time but I really think The Grove takes some beating. It just gets better & better as time goes on, something which is pretty rare in the hospitality business. They’ve particularly added and improved all of their family friendly offerings over the last few years and so I HAD to come and take a full look. I really don’t think anything else compares in the UK. It’s by no means a budget option but it really does include so much and you’ll come away feeling like just one night has felt like a weeks holiday with so much to do there {and at the same time you’ll be hard pushed to want to ever leave!}.
Day trip to the Pakleni Islands and Hvar Old Town, with kids
If you ever find yourself in Hvar, {we were staying at this really great value, super family friendly beautiful green resort - see my full review here} then you have to visit Hvar old town and the Pakleni islands just across the water are unmissable if you want to see some of the clearest, most beautiful water in Europe. Here’s a mini guide of everything we did to take a water taxi for just 10 euros return compared to spending hundreds on skippering a boat…
Amicor Green Resort, Hvar
If you’re looking for a dream family resort that has villas instead of rooms, childcare and halfboard included, a beautiful old town within walking distance that’s actually good value even in the school holidays then look no further! We discovered such a gem with the Valamar Amicor Green resort on Hvar island in Croatia. Let me tell you all about our stay from May half term….
Valamar Tirena, Dubrovnik
Come and see why we absolutely loved Valamar Tirena resort in Dubrovnik’s Lapad peninsula.
This resort is designed with families in mind—it makes traveling with kids feel effortless. Set just 10 minutes from Dubrovnik’s Old Town, with a bus that stops right outside the hotel, it’s the perfect base for a city break, with plenty to keep everyone entertained. One of the biggest highlights? Maro World—an amazing kids’ paradise exclusive to Valamar guests.
